At the Innovative Energy System Laboratory (IES lab) of TPG (Unige), the validation site of the Pump-Heat project is designed to test innovative strategies to increase the flexibility of gas turbine combined cycles (GTCC). Thanks to the integration of real components (heat pump, thermal energy storage and micro gas turbine), dynamic models and scale-up equations, this cyber-physical system makes it possible to study in a lab environment the effect of compressor inlet conditioning on a GTCC. A 3-level MPC-based control system regulates the plant to optimize its operation and match the electric power demand.
